The last of my 2008 Year In Review crap, I promise.
I can’t say that I’m not jealous - that’s a pretty impressive list. I saw the Joanna Newsom show at the Opera House (WOW) and the Broken Social Scene gig at the Manning Bar (YAY!), and of course the recent Final Fantasy gig at The Vanguard (ZOMG). Deliberately skipped Björk’s show because I saw her in Vancouver last year (though now that I think about it, FTW, it was at the Opera House Forecourt goddammit!) and Feist because I saw her in Victoria in 2006.
Am still cursing myself for missing Sufjan Stevens’ show (didn’t have the money at the time), Arcade Fire (where the hell was I?), and Sigur Rós (conflict with another appointment). And Radiohead - when will they be touring Australia? Oh well. At least I got to also see Yeasayer at Oxford Art Factory and Midnight Juggernaught at Manning Bar.
My first gig for 2009? It will (hopefully) be St Vincent at Sydney Festival Spiegeltent followed by José González at the City Recital Hall Angel Place.

St. Vincent - Human Racing
One of the prettiest, most adorable voices I’ve heard in 2008. The world needs more St Vincents.
Back on the prowl in Jakarta. Whoaaaa
Still haven’t mastered the art of packing. Still cannot fathom the fact that I’m leaving in several hours.
Can Owen Pallett be more magical? That was the best live performance I’ve seen, hands down
The Last Shadow Puppets - My Mistakes Were Made for You
Call me slow, but I just discovered The Last Shadow Puppets today. Instant fave. Loving the strings by Owen Pallett on the background.
